If you’d rather read about it:
Welcome to another empowering episode of ‘She Heals Her,’ where we explore the journeys of resilience, growth, and transformation. In this episode, I want to share some inspiring insights that truly resonated with me.
The other day, I listened to an amazing episode on the ‘Take Back Your Mind’ podcast, featuring one of my most cherished spiritual teachers, Michael B. Beckwith, alongside Dr. Habib Sadeghi. They discussed the numerous obstacles life throws our way, and their conversation was both inspiring and a great reminder of our own inner strength. If you have some time, I highly recommend listening to this podcast from last December.
During the episode, Dr. Sadeghi used a beautiful analogy that I absolutely loved. He compared the courage of meeting life’s challenges to riding the waves while surfing. Picture this: there comes a wave, and you have two choices—ride it or let it get you. So many times, we find ourselves overwhelmed by life’s obstacles, attempting to avoid them instead of facing them head-on. Can you relate?
But when you look at it from a surfer’s perspective, the true adventure begins when you decide to ride that wave. This perspective shifts our mindset from being passive recipients of life’s circumstances to active participants in our own journey. By choosing to ride the wave, you’re not just accepting the challenge; you’re embracing the potential for growth and transformation.
Just like surfers who constantly refine their skills to better handle bigger and more formidable waves, we too can develop resilience and strength through each challenge we face. Riding the wave is about finding balance amidst turbulence, maintaining your focus, and trusting in your ability to navigate through the highs and lows.
It’s about understanding that the wave is not your enemy but a force that, if you harness it correctly and gracefully, can propel you forward in ways you can’t even fathom yet. You don’t know what it feels like or looks like to be on the other side of it. But when you nurture such a mindset, I guarantee you that inevitable struggles will seem doable.
They might scare you, and that is totally fine. Fear is natural, but it shouldn’t hold you back because you’ve mastered challenges in the past. You know you will always come out great. And if you haven’t come out great yet, then it’s not over. You’re still in it, riding it, and before you know it, you’ll be on the other side of it.
The surfing analogy reminds us that falling is part of the process. We’re so afraid of falling when, in fact, that is how we learn to get up again. Think about how many times we fell as toddlers. Yet, we kept getting back up.
Imagine yourself adopting the mindset of a surfer. Surfers often wipe out, but they don’t give up. They get back on their boards, learn from their mistakes, and try again. Similarly, when we face setbacks or failures in life, it’s crucial to see them as opportunities for learning and growth rather than definitive endpoints.
So, don’t fear to ride the waves of life! You will not only overcome the obstacles but also discover the depths of your own potential. You have all that it takes. Ride the wave. Be the surfer of your life.
Love
Nadine
