This Lost in Pages edition is dedicated to all the audiobooks I’ve listened to in November. I wanted to keep my physical books and audiobooks separate this time, because otherwise it would’ve been too much for one blog post. Here’s part 1 of my November reads and book reflections.

You may be wondering—how does one manage to listen to so many audiobooks and read a stack of physical books in just one month, especially with everything else I have going on—writing, life coaching, voice coaching, etc.!
Well, for some people, it may seem like a lot; for others, maybe not so much. Some avid readers out there have children (I don’t have kids yet) and full-time jobs, and they manage to read even more than I do. It just goes to show that we’re all capable of more than we think!
It’s all about time management and making the most of my day—well, not every minute; I’m not Superwoman and don’t strive to be! But you get my point, right? I find a lot of inspiration in other bookworms and the creative ways they squeeze reading into their lives. It’s truly fascinating to see what’s possible. Did you know the Guinness World Record for speed reading belongs to Howard Berg, who reads an incredible 80 pages per minute? 80 pages! Per minute! Crazy, right?! Imagine the number of books you could get through daily—mind-blowing!
Personally, I’ve been learning to read faster, and I often listen to audiobooks at double speed. Most narrators’ default pace is a bit slow for me, so I’ll start at 1.2x to ease into the story, then gradually speed up. It’s amazing how your ear can adapt, cutting listening time in half without losing the story’s rhythm.
And I multitask whenever possible: audiobooks during chores, errands, commuting, and, on rare occasions, when I’m under the weather (though I hardly ever get sick!). But as it happened in November, when a fever does strike, it usually only lasts a day or two, so I’ll take that time to dive into a lighthearted listen, meditate, and rest up.

What a lovely surprise!
I discovered Then Again by Sylvie Stewart at just the right moment: one of those restless nights when I couldn’t sleep due to a short fever and aching body. My eyes were too sore to read, so I turned to an audiobook (found on YouTube for free—I’ll link it here) for some lighthearted distraction, and by pure coincidence, I stumbled upon Then Again. I’d never heard of Sylvie Stewart before! Little did I know, this story would be exactly what I needed, charming me from start to finish and even making me laugh. It felt unexpectedly refreshing—just what you need when you’re sick!
The story centers around Jenna, a divorced single mom dipping her toes back into the dating pool after 3 years, though her attempts at flirting and romance seem destined for disaster at first.
After some cringe-worthy flirting fails—haven’t we all had them!—and a botched attempt at a honky-tonk hookup, she’s about ready to throw in the towel on love altogether. I cannot blame her!
But then there’s Sam—a handsome, protective, and, let’s be honest, swoon-worthy guy in uniform—who keeps popping up in her life just when she least expects it. He’s into her, you can tell from the very start. And I love that he’s sp prptective of her.
Jenna’s sister, Jilly, is more than a little supportive of this potential match, nudging Jenna to give Sam a real chance. Though Jenna’s reluctant at first—trust issues, again you can blame her!—, her heart might just be in for more than it bargained for.
I was immediately taken by Jenna’s awkward, endearing personality and the way Stewart brings her to life with such warmth and humor, and let’s not ignore his persistence to show up for her.
Jenna’s relatable missteps and charming vulnerability make her a character you can’t help but root for, and her journey of rediscovering herself after divorce feels both realistic and uplifting.
And Sam! He’s the kind of steady, loyal guy who swoops in at all the right moments, his protective nature somehow never overbearing but oh-so-swoon-worthy. The chemistry between these two is sizzling, and the will-they-won’t-they tension kept me eagerly listening from scene to scene. I guess, the reading a physical copy of the book would be even more engaging!
The narration by Kelsey Navarro was spot-on, capturing Jenna’s personality with just the right amount of humor and vulnerability. So human! Listening to this story felt like catching up with friends—it was cozy, funny, and heartwarming, and Navarro’s narration made every bit of witty banter and sweet moment come alive.
One of my favorite aspects of Then Again is how it balances humor with heartfelt moments. It’s not superficial, something I honestly expected. The characters and situations feel genuine but also make you laugh out loud. Jenna’s daughters, with their perceptiveness and sweetness, add so much charm, while her sister Jilly’s sass and support make for some of the book’s funniest moments. It’s the kind of story that feels like a little escape into a world where awkwardness, romance, and laughter all come together in the best way.
If you’re looking for a romance full of humor, heart, and a small-town romance, Then Again is absolutely worth a listen. This one caught me by surprise, and I’m so glad it did—it was the perfect feel-good story for a cozy day in bed.
THE UNHONEYMOONERS by Christina Lauren

Enemies to Lovers, Sunsets & Laughs: The Perfect Rom-Com Escape
When I was stuck in bed with a fever, unable to focus on the page because my eyes were burning and feeling utterly miserable, I turned to the The Unhoneymooners audiobook—and it was an absolute lifesaver. This story was just what I needed: light, funny, romantic, and the perfect pick-me-up. It entertained me from start to finish and managed to make me feel better even when I felt so awful.
Olive is the definition of unlucky. Her career is stalled, her love life is a disaster, and life just seems to throw curveballs at every turn. Her twin sister, Ami, couldn’t be more opposite—she seems to live a charmed life, complete with a whirlwind romance and an impressively funded wedding (thanks to winning random internet contests). Of course, things go from bad to worse when Olive has to attend her sister’s wedding with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.
But then things really take a turn: after the entire wedding party comes down with food poisoning from some bad shellfish, the only two unaffected are Olive and Ethan. With the rest of the wedding party incapacitated and a free, all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii now on the table, Olive and Ethan find themselves with a dilemma. They’re forced to put their mutual dislike aside and head off on this trip together, posing as newlyweds in order to claim the vacation.
The chemistry between these two is electric, their banter sharp and witty, and what starts as forced companionship quickly turns into something far more emotional and unexpected. As they’re forced to spend time in paradise together, pretending to be the picture-perfect couple while trying to ignore the sparks flying between them, things get… complicated. Secrets, insecurities, and laughter build as they navigate their shared (and messy) journey.
Christina Lauren’s signature style is woven through this story—humor, romance, and heart in perfect balance. The audiobook narration brought Olive and Ethan’s story to life so beautifully, making their journey even more immersive and delightful. This is a story about second chances, unexpected adventures, learning to trust again, and finding connection in the most unlikely circumstances.
My only small note was that I felt the story could have explored Olive and Ethan’s emotional journey just a little deeper by the end. That said, this is such a minor thing when you consider how fun, sweet, and uplifting The Unhoneymooners is overall.
This story is a romantic escape that’s equal parts hilarious, heartwarming, and swoon-worthy. If you’re looking for a story to sweep you away into the world of tropical beaches, enemies-to-lovers chemistry, and laugh-out-loud rom-com vibes, look no further. Christina Lauren has truly delivered on this one, and I highly recommend it for anyone needing a feel-good audiobook (or read) to lighten their mood. ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
HONEYBEE by Dawn O’Porter

When Life Stings, Find Your Wing Woman:
Absolutely loved it. I love O’Porters writing style and listening to the British accent was charming.
I listened to Honeybee while I was sick, and it was the perfect companion during a challenging time. This story is comforting, raw, emotional, and beautifully layered—a 5-star journey that explores friendship, love, self-discovery, and overcoming life’s most challenging moments.
The story follows Renée and Flo—best friends navigating the rollercoaster of adulthood. Renée is struggling with her dreams of becoming a writer and the pressure of trying to make her life count. Flo is carrying her own burden, a secret shame, and the weight of personal struggles. Both women feel adrift, failing in love, careers, and the expectations adulthood placed on them.
The Goodreads description perfectly sums it up:
“For best friends Renée and Flo, adulthood isn’t the party they expected. Renée’s dreams of being a writer are going nowhere. Flo’s hiding a secret shame. They’re both failing in work and love. This book speaks to anyone who has ever felt out of place, uncertain, or simply trying to survive their 20s in a world that doesn’t always feel forgiving. Themes like friendship, resilience, addiction, and the search for belonging are explored with such honesty and compassion.
I’m so happy I found Dawn O’Porter. She’s a hell of a writer. I adore her, and I deeply appreciated how O’Porter delicately weaves in the struggles of navigating alcohol addiction in Honeybee, adding a layer of complexity that was thoughtful, empathetic, and powerful.
The only thing that felt slightly off to me was the age of the characters. I initially thought Renée and Flo were in their early 30s, given the depth of their challenges and reflections on life, but they are actually in their early 20s. While this didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story, it did feel a bit incongruent given their experiences.
That said, Honeybee is an incredible story about the highs and lows of adulthood, the unbreakable bonds of friendship, and the beauty of learning to trust and show up for one another. Dawn O’Porter’s storytelling is insightful, emotional, and uplifting. This story reminded me that when life stings, we all need a wing woman—someone who shows up, sticks with you, and believes in you.
If you’re looking for a read that will inspire you to reflect on friendship, love, and finding your footing, Honeybee is for you. It’s one of those books that stays with you long after you finish. Five stars from me! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

And another Dawn O’Porter novel, because I got hooked, and: Wow!
So Lucky is a powerful, emotional, and captivating story that had me utterly hooked from start to finish. I was listening to it while recovery from a fever, reorganizing my apartment, shifting boxes and closing chapters to the past.
This audiobook combines stellar storytelling, dynamic characters, and a journey through the complexities of life, friendship, and self-discovery. I listened to it and truly felt every emotional high and low with these characters—it was a ride that left me inspired and moved.
The story explores the lives of three very different women—Beth, Ruby, and Lauren—whose paths cross in unexpected and life-altering ways. Their personal journeys are layered, authentic, and deeply relatable. Each woman is grappling with her own struggles, expectations, and doubts about life, love, and happiness.

It was heartfelt, empowering, and layered with both humor and profound truth.
As with almost every audiobook, I want to get myself a physical copy of the book, and read it for myself.
I love that this story is fearless and vulnerable; it will speak to anyone who has ever doubted themselves, struggled with expectations, or wrestled with the question of whether happiness is even possible when you’re navigating life’s messiness.
⭐ 4 out of 5 stars—beautiful, emotional, and thoroughly satisfying. So Lucky is the kind of story that stays with you, forcing you to confront the question: How lucky are you to be you?
THE PUMPKIN SPICE CAFÉ by Laurie Gilmore

Loved it! Cozy, warm, and cute! Exactly what I needed.
Laurie Gilmore’s The Pumpkin Spice Café is the perfect blend of cozy autumn vibes and small-town charm—a truly heartwarming escape into the fictional town of Dream Harbor. This book is like a warm mug of pumpkin spice latte on a chilly fall day: comforting, sweet, and just what I needed! Yay!!! So happy I found it!
I have to admit, though, I first hesitated. After glancing at some mixed reviews on Goodreads, I wondered if it would really be my kind of story. But then, I trusted my instincts (and the season of course), hit play on BookBeat, and was instantly drawn into the world Gilmore so lovingly crafted. Once again, I was reminded how personal reviews can be and how important it is to form our own opinions. What’s cozy and delightful for one reader may not resonate with another, and that’s the beauty of reading, isn’t it!
The story itself is simple but oh-so-satisfying, following protagonist Jeanie as she moves to Dream Harbor to take over her aunt’s quaint café. Maybe that’s why I love it so much—it makes me dream of my own little café with a cozy bookstore tucked inside, welcoming a community of beautiful people. Jeanie’s journey of settling into a new town, breathing fresh life into the café, and finding her place feels so relatable and comforting. And that’s why I loved it so much. See, it’s always very personal. 😉
And that is what Jeanie finds in Dream Harbor: a new start, and a tight-knit community. It is healing for her, giving her peace and belonging.
What I loved most about this novel was one of its many hidden—or maybe not so hidden—messages: Don’t let your past determine your future. This is especially true for Logan, the handsome farmer, who’s been through heartbreak and nearly sabotages his relationship with Jeanie because of it. I love that reminder—how a painful past doesn’t have to dictate the love that lies ahead.
The atmosphere Gilmore creates is so inviting that I could almost smell the cinnamon and nutmeg wafting through the air and see the beautiful autumn leaves rustling outside. I especially loved that she named the café cat Casper—my own cat is named Kaspar, which feels like another little sign that this book was meant for me. 😉
The Pumpkin Spice Café felt like a story about finding one’s place, the power of community and friendship, and embracing life’s small joys—all perfect themes for a cozy autumn read. And of course, we can’t overlook the beautiful love story that unfolds, both spicy and sweet, adding the perfect touch of warmth and romance.
What else I adored about The Pumpkin Spice Café is its simplicity and warmth. It doesn’t try to be anything other than a feel-good story, and sometimes that’s exactly what we need. It reminds me why I read—to escape (in a good way 😉 ), to experience other lives, and to find joy in a good story. There’s something so refreshing about a book that’s comfortable in its own coziness, inviting you to curl up with a blanket and let the world slow down for a while. And it’s even better when it reminds you of the things that matter to you, too!
So, if you’re looking for a sweet, uplifting read to settle into this fall, I highly recommend giving The Pumpkin Spice Café a try—especially if you’re a fan of small-town romances, autumnal settings (still time, autumn is not over yet!), and the simple joys of life. And if you enjoy audiobooks, Regina Reagan’s narration is a bonus treat. I’m already looking forward to picking up a physical copy to re-read next autumn, savoring every cozy moment in this delightful world. Something to look forward to.

Time to Rediscover Your Magic
You know the feeling when a book cover just calls out to you? That’s exactly what happened with Rewitched. One look at the magical, enchanting design, and I was all in—hook, line, and cauldron! But let me tell you, this wasn’t just a case of cover love. Lucy Jane Wood delivers a spellbinding story that’s as bewitching as it is empowering, and I hope, if you’re into witchy things like I am, that you pick up a copy or listen to the audiobook…
…Because Rewitched is the kind of romantic fantasy that feels like it was tailor-made for me, so I guess you might have a similar experience.
But anyway, this novel is rich with magic, humor, and depth, wrapped up in a cozy, autumnal vibe.
The story follows Belladonna “Belle” Blackthorn, a burnt-out but lovable witch struggling to juggle her passion for her charming bookstore, Lunar Books, with the crushing reality of her toxic boss and the need to keep her magical identity under wraps. Lucy Jane Wood masterfully blends:

What I loved most about Rewitched was how relatable Belle’s journey felt. The story’s pacing is impeccable, the writing is witty and charming, and the magical elements are seamlessly intertwined with the emotional arcs. This isn’t just a book; it’s an experience—a reminder to slow down, embrace our inner power, and rediscover the magic we all carry within.

The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore by Laurie Gilmore, the second cozy gem set in Dream Harbor, is a delightful audiobook that checks all the boxes for a perfect escape. It’s sweet, cozy, sexy, and funny—a warm embrace in story form. Whether you’re a fan of small-town romances or love a good treasure hunt, this book delivers all that and more.
Hazel, the charming bookseller, stumbles upon a hidden message tucked inside a book at her quaint bookstore. What starts as a simple discovery turns into an intriguing treasure hunt when more coded messages begin to appear. Enter Noah, the swoon-worthy fisherman with a heart of gold and a knack for adventure. He’s been harboring a crush on Hazel (since Pumpkin Spice Café), and now he’s got the perfect excuse to spend time with her. - Small Town Bliss: Dream Harbor is painted with all the picturesque details of a place you’d want to call home, complete with cinnamon bun-scented air wafting through the streets. (That’s just my imagination, but wouldn’t it be simply amazing? 😉 )
- Forced Proximity: As the treasure hunt progresses, Hazel and Noah find themselves sharing more than just clues, drawing them closer with every step.
- He Falls First: Noah’s unwavering affection for Hazel is as endearing as it is heart-melting.
What I loved most about The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore is its refreshing charm. It’s a story that tugs at your heartstrings while keeping a smile on your face. Gilmore’s writing feels like coming home—cozy, comforting, and utterly captivating. The audiobook narration brings the story to life, making you feel like you’re right there in Dream Harbor, savoring every sweet, warm, and spicy moment.
I will read the physical book in 2025. Just to have both experiences. I do prefer books over audiobooks.
But coming back, if you loved The Pumpkin Spice Café, you’ll adore this next installment in the series.
I’d say, start with Pumpkin Spice Café since it makes it so much more enjoyable to read the other books of the series. But you can easily read each book without reading the entire series.
And if you’re new to Laurie Gilmore’s work, this is a perfect starting point to fall in love with her cozy rom-coms. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of romance or just in need of a lighthearted escape, The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore is a story you won’t want to miss. Witchy, Whimsical, and Wonderfully Romantic
If you’re a fan of romantic fantasies with a dash of witchy charm like I am, Hex Appeal by Kate Johnson is bound to enchant you. I really liked it. This delightful audiobook had me hooked from the very start, blending magical mischief, romance, and humor into a spellbinding tale that’s both entertaining and heartfelt. As the first book in the Best Hex Ever Collection series, it sets the tone beautifully for what promises to be a magical journey.
I think the physical book is even better. I still prefer reading over listening, but still I enjoyed it.
The story introduces us to Essie Winterscale, a reluctant witch who resides in the chaotic yet endearing Beldam House, nestled in the village of Good Winter. Beldam House isn’t your average home—it’s an ever-changing, quirky place where Essie lives alongside an eclectic coven of witches. From a ghost still salty about being hanged centuries ago to a knitter whose creations literally predict the future, each inhabitant adds to the house’s enchanting chaos. Essie’s dream of leading a normal life is overshadowed by her undeniable witchiness (though she admits her ability to instantly chill wine is quite the perk!).
Then there’s Josh, their unsuspecting new landlord, who’s baffled to learn his tenants haven’t paid rent since the 1700s. So cute! I had to laugh about this tiny little detail.
Despite her best efforts to keep Josh at broomstick’s length, Essie finds herself drawn to him. Of course!
Their chemistry is palpable and sweet, and their dynamic is further complicated by a centuries-old family secret that threatens to upend everything.
Kate Johnson’s writing sparkles with wit and warmth. The village of Good Winter and its eccentric residents feel so vivid and alive that you’ll wish you could pay them a visit. The romance between Essie and Josh is the perfect blend of slow-burn tension, which I love, and laugh-out-loud moments, which I love too, with just enough magical intrigue to keep you turning the pages (or, in this case, listening with rapt attention).
Whether you’re drawn to stories about witches, love a good rom-com, or simply enjoy a touch of magic in your reads, Hex Appeal is a delightful choice. I can’t wait to see where the Best Hex Ever Collection takes us next!

Cozy, Predictable, and Delightfully Heartwarming
Oh, this one felt like stepping into a cozy Christmas hug. If you’re in the mood for a warm, festive audiobook to brighten your winter days, The Christmas Tree Farm by Laurie Gilmore is exactly what you need. It’s a sweet, charming story set in the delightful little town of Dream Harbor, where small-town magic meets a grumpy-sunshine romance. Sure, it’s predictable—but in the best way, like knowing your favorite holiday movie by heart and still loving every second. So, this is a good predictable!
Having already enjoyed The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore and The Pumpkin Spice Café, I found this one slid right into the same cozy, feel-good vibe. Laurie Gilmore clearly has found her niche; she’s got a knack for crafting lighthearted rom-coms that lean into the tropes rom-com-lovers all adore:
- Grumpy x Sunshine: Kira North—the new, grumpy owner of the Christmas tree farm—meets her match in Bennett Ellis, a sunshiney Californian whose charm and biceps wield an axe just as well as they slice through Kira’s icy exterior.
- From Dislike to Like: Their initial friction adds a spark of tension, but as the story unfolds, it’s heartwarming to see how Ben’s good-natured persistence wears Kira down in the best way.
- Small Town Charm: Dream Harbor is so quaint it’s practically a character itself, with all its cozy vibes and tight-knit community quirks.
- Forced Proximity: You can thank Kira’s stubborn streak and the logistics of running a struggling Christmas tree farm for bringing these two closer than either of them planned.
The story’s premise is as festive as it gets: a reluctant Christmas-lover trying to salvage a tree farm she impulsively bought, crossed with a swoony love interest who’s ready to chop wood and hearts in equal measure. Kira’s resistance to both Christmas and Ben feels authentic but never overdone, and the banter between them brings plenty of smiles.
While the book doesn’t reinvent the wheel,w hich is surely not necassary anyway, it leans unapologetically into the joy of its tropes, making it the perfect pick for fans of grumpy-sunshine pairings and small-town escapism.
