My August 2024 Review: Summer in Berlin

From parks and lakes to forests and the vibrant city life, summer in Berlin and around Berlin is as versatile as it is inviting. While many ‘Berliners’ can’t wait to escape for their annual vacation, there’s something special about staying put and soaking up the buzz of this lively melting pot, where opportunities seem endless.

This year, I decided—well, had to— stay in Berlin, and I’ve fallen even more in love with the city. One of my favorite things is to wander through the streets of Mitte, turning my everyday surroundings into a personal sightseeing adventure. Even after 19 years of living here, there’s always something new to discover—something fascinating, intriguing, and full of possibilities.

Each week, I challenge myself to explore a different part of the city, walking unfamiliar paths, finding hidden gems, and embracing areas I’ve never been to before. I invite you to see your city, town or even village through a whole new pair of eyes. Trust me, when we focus on the positive side of life, we will find it.
Berlin has so much to offer, and I’m determined to experience as much of it as I can.

Why I Had to Stay in Berlin This Summer

Ever since my cat Merle passed away in February, my cat Kaspar has been losing weight. Animals mourn too, and over the past two months, his health has increasingly deteriorated, causing me great concern. Kaspar is a very social cat who thrives on companionship and cannot be left alone for long periods. Unlike other cats who might manage with a cat sitter visiting once or twice a day, Kaspar needs constant presence. He only eats wet food, which cannot be left out for too long, especially in the heat of summer. My apartment gets super hot, and I have to constantly monitor the temperature to ensure it stays safe for him.

Caring for Kaspar is a lot of work, but I do it with all my heart. The reason I chose to stay in Berlin and forgo any short trips this summer is because I want to spend as much time as possible with my beloved fur-baby. Kaspar will be turning 16 years old this fall, so he’s not as young as he used to be.

A Heartbreaking and Relieving Discovery

In August, it was revealed that Kaspar has the same severe health conditions as Merle had. Initially, this news was devastating, but it also brought some relief, as it explained why Kaspar has been feeling unwell over the past few months. Losing Merle, his lifelong companion, has undoubtedly had a profound impact on him. They were always together, and her passing has deeply affected Kaspar.

I’m grateful for the time I still have with my cutie pie and hold out hope that he will improve and stay with me for many more months, if not years.

Spiritual Journey in August

August in Berlin is always a month of deep nourishment and soul searching for me. Amid the city’s vibrant energy, it’s a time infused with joy and play, where the dynamic Leo energy feels like a refreshing breeze compared to the introspective depths of July. While July, for me, is a month of profound healing and feels pregnant with potential, August in Berlin brings a sense of playfulness, fun, and wonderful company.

I love making collages and letting my creativity flow. This one I made for 8-8-8 Lion’s Gate, incorporating a lion’s head, with sacred shapes such as these triangles and the Sirius star as the Third Eye symbol. I love how this one came out.

The 8-8 Lion’s Gate portal adds always an extra layer of power to August, amplifying its transformative energies. This year, the Lion’s Gate was particularly special with its triple 8 alignment; for those who are into numerology just like I am, you know how significant this is.
I wrote a blog article about it which you can read here.

August marked a pivotal shift for me, lifting and shifting some major energy, and I felt a renewed sense of self amidst the summer’s vibrancy. Although the transformation wasn’t always easy, it was certainly vibrant and lush.

On a global scale, August has seen immense changes, reflecting the collective shifts we’ve been experiencing. As within, so without. It’s a wake-up call for the world.

On a personal level, this summer in Berlin has been so much about embracing playfulness as a spiritual practice and reevaluating my life’s direction. Wow, super deep!
The inner work I’ve been engaging in has been profoundly spiritual this month, and made me feel like I’ve grown significantly. I still need time to digest everything.

By the way: Has anyone else had these very vivid dreams? I always dream, but the fabric of my dreams has changed. My dreams are much, much more prophetic. Crazy stuff. I love it, though.

From Berlin to Paris: How the Olympics Captivated My Summer

This August, my summer, was infused with Olympic excitement! As a lifelong fan of the Games, I was glued to the screen whenever I had free time, cheering on athletes and soaking in the thrilling moments of the Paris 2024 Olympics. The passion and energy of the Games added a special spark to my days, inspiring and motivating me in more ways than one. And I love having friends that were as enthusiastic as I was. You guys, you know who you are. 😉

This summer has been a turning point for me, especially after healing from several injuries. I’m thrilled to be back to my workout schedule, and there’s nothing better than starting the day with a good workout. The energy from the Paris Olympics has been a major motivator, firing me up to hit the gym as much as I can. It’s amazing how a summer in Berlin, combined with the fervor of the Olympic Games, can reignite your passion for fitness and keep you dedicated to staying healthy! I loved this time so much!!!

Creating New Content: Summer in Berlin Inspirations

This summer has been a time of personal growth, Olympic excitement, and creative inspiration. As I wandered through the vibrant streets, parks, and new spots I haven’t been before, and soaked in the unique atmosphere of the city, I found myself brimming with fresh ideas for new content. ManGen here. That excitement can make you go crazy when you don’t know how to contain it. 🙈
But wow, the energy of Berlin, combined with the creativity sparked by the Paris Olympics, has fueled my writing and projects. It was magic. Summer inspires me in so many ways. Berlin in summer is simply magic.

You know, for a long time, I struggled with finding happiness in Berlin, as it can be a very harsh city for highly sensitive people like me. But I’ve decided to make my current/remaining time in Berlin as joyful and worthwhile as possible. The city’s vibrant vegan scene is something I’m absolutely grateful for, and it’s one of the reasons I’m still here—Berlin offers so many wonderful options for a vegan lifestyle. I’m spoilt! 😂

But really: from the charming parks and bustling neighborhoods to the Olympic fervor, every moment in Berlin has contributed to my creative process. I’ve been working on a lot of new blog post articles, and I’m excited to share that several have already been published in August. [Click here to see all blog articles I published in August.] The sun, heat, and the city’s buzzing vibe have deeply nourished my creative spirit and helped me fall in love with Berlin all over again. Something I thought would never ever happen again. So much has changed and I’m deeply greatful for the perspective change. It makes such a difference.

I’ve also been planning my blog post schedule for the remainder of the year and gearing up for the relaunch of my podcast SHE HEALS HER Podcast in October after a summer break. There’s been so much excitement and joy in creating new content, and I can’t wait to share all the magic with you.

Exciting Business Updates

But there’s already something very exciting I can share with you:

Language Learning

As I mentioned in my July 2024 review, I was thrilled to gift myself lifelong access to a language learning app in July, and this summer in Berlin has been the perfect time to refresh my French and Spanish skills. I’ve dedicated a lot of time to improving, and I’m eager to keep progressing. Learning a (new) language is all about consistency, and immersing yourself in the language, its culture, and its rhythm is crucial.

Isn’t it funny how, once I started focusing more on those languages, I suddenly began noticing Spanish and French speakers everywhere I went? It’s amazing how our focus can shape our reality and how our environment seems to reflect what we’re concentrating on.

With the Paris Olympics happening, I felt even more connected to French, which boosted my learning enthusiasm and habits. The excitement of the Games provided a vibrant backdrop to my studies, making the experience even more enriching.

Gosh, how I love the French language!!! Spanish, too. I’m slightly better at Spanish, though.

Outlook on September 2024

  • Reinventing myself: Every fall I feel the need to do a proper ‘Spring Cleanse’, and wrap things up, get things done! It’s one of my favorite seasons to be creative. The luteal phase of my life so to speak: getting really clear on what I want, focusing on finances, setting up new ways and streams of income. Oh, I so love this season: The Virgo and Libra in me are super, duper excited to enter this phase.
  • Co-working, collabs, and working on new projects
  • upping my self-care regimen (there’s always more self-love!) 😃
